What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think or hear, Water Transportation? Your mind will surely race to ships and boats of different sizes. However, there’s more to it than the ships and boats.

Nature has gifted us ‘ocean’, so big that even our mind does have the ability to think of its greatness. So to utilize the amazing gift by nature, we humans have come up with few of the water transportation ideas to explore and make use of it.

Why was Water Transportation Invented?

People realized that water can be used as the medium for transportation. It can be utilized to move things from one place to another and also in a short period of time. Hence, water transportation was designed to deliver mails, move people and freight by sailboats, boat or barge over the sea, ocean, canals, lakes, and rivers.

Importance of Water Transportation

Today, it has become a very important part of our lives especially the role it plays in the business world. It has also made the journey of long travelers enjoyable. It has become so eminent in the transportation of goods and services that it makes it completely impossible to transfer anything to other parts of the world. For instance, one can in no way transfer loaded containers from the U.S to Africa by air or on road. Even if it can be transferred, imagine the days and expense it will bring with it. But in the case of water transport, it can be easily loaded with many containers of goods and services and also transferred to the destined place in a short period of time.

The water vehicles are of many types which include racing boats, cruise ships, windsurfer boats, cruise ships, battleships, riverboats, canoes, raft boats, yachts, ferries, tugboats, and submarines.

One must note that water vehicle is not limited not just to oceans but also for canals and rivers. This is the reason they are classified as ocean water transportation and inland water transportation.

Though water vehicles have become an eminent part of our day to day life, it can never be compared with other modes of transportation. Each plays its role perfectly and so are the water vehicles. It has become very easy for the people of the island and other related places to travel and transfer goods from one place to another. The best part about the water vehicle is it is inexpensive and also fast in its work.
